Our Story
Our Story
Freedom House Church was founded in 2003 by Pastor Paul Gonzalez with help from his wife, Amy, and his closest family. On April 11 of the same year, what he thought was going to be a weekly Bible study in his mother’s dining room would propel him into his lifetime dream: a dream to minister God’s Word to Lorain County.
From there we expanded to a Sunday service at a storefront in Elyria. Quickly needing more space, we moved back to Lorain into the basement of the Antlers building downtown. The Lord then blessed us yet again. In 2008, we were offered a substantial property to house our growing church in Amherst, Ohio.
The non-denominational, spirit-filled church you see today is by God’s design. Without his leading, inspiration, and influence, it truly would not be where it is.
We are not just a church; we are a family of believers!

Pastors
Jason Jackson - Lead Pastor
A power house in prayer and all things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Pastor Jason has a passion for the ministry of the Word to see the Church strengthened and the lost saved. Many nights and early mornings, you will find him at the church, seeking the Lord and praying for the church. He also enjoys soccer, watching football, and is a superhero movie fanatic.
Shannon McNeal - Teaching Pastor
Pastor Shannon, has been serving our church for well over a decade. He's been a faithful leader in ministry as head usher, and now to the position of teaching pastor. He is an avid University of Michigan fan, devoted father and husband. He also has need for (safe) speed and loves to ride his motorcycle.
How God Filled His Years of Emptiness
Shannon McNeal grew up abandoned by his single
parent mother and looked to impress his older
brothers who had turned to sex,
drugs, and violence as a means of survival.
Having joined them for over 20 years in this lifestyle,
Shannon experienced a night and day
turnaround of self when he met a
woman who had a loving heart.
Realizing this was what he always longed for, he asked God for help and received more than he ever expected.Click this text to start editing. This video and text block is great for descriptions about your business, products, or services. Double-click the video on the right to change it.
